Shipments to Canada incur a customs or brokerage fee. This fee will not automatically be calculated when placing an order on line, but a sales representative will contact you with the details.
In many cases, we can ship on your own carrier account. Please ask
at time of order entry. There may be a handling charge for this
service.
Small Package Shipping
We ship most items UPS International Standard. UPS charges a customs fee based on the value of the shipment. The fee can be anywhere from $10-$70 and sometimes more per package delivered. The fee is paid directly to UPS, not to AES. To read more about the UPS fee schedule, please visit the UPS website: http://www.ups.com/content/ca/en/shipping/cost/zones/customs_clearance.html
Your shipment can also be sent by an expedited method such as UPS Worldwide Express Plus, UPS Worldwide Express, UPS Worldwide Express Saver, and UPS Worldwide Expedited Services. In that case, UPS will NOT charge additional customs fees upon delivery. Please specify your preferred shipment method when ordering
Some small shipments such as books may be sent by US postal service (USPS). Please note that we can not guarantee shipments with USPS. If a shipment does not arrive when shipped via
USPS, we will not be able to refund your money or replace the item until the USPS insurance claim has been processed (typically takes 6 months).
Truck Freight Shipments
Items that are too large to be shipped by UPS must be sent by truck. It is recommended that the customer locate a broker through which the border crossing is made. If the customer does not have a broker, AES can recommend a broker and collect any brokerage fees at the time of the order.
Item with a truck symbol next to them denote that they must be shipped via
truck. Some of the carriers we use include (yellow, Roadway, R & L
Carriers etc..) Shipping for these items will not calculate automatically
online. To order these items online, simply add them to you cart,
place the order and one of our sales reps will be happy to contact you with
a shipping quote for your order. We will not ship your order until you
have confirmed and accepted the shipping charges.
When you receive an item via truck freight, you must inspect it BEFORE
SIGNING the delivery receipt. If you do not note any possible
damage on the delivery receipt, then we will have no recourse with the
freight company to get you reimbursed for damages. If the driver is
unwilling to wait while you inspect all you items, please mark on the delivery
receipt "Concealed Damage Possible".
Please specify at the time of order, if you will need a lift gate. A
lift gate is used to move items down from the truck to ground. If the item
is heavy and going to a residential address, you will most likely need one
of these.
We cannot guarantee that the truck driver will help unload your
shipment. This depends on the driver, so you should be prepared to unload
it without the drivers help.
Please notify us at time of the order if the ship to address is
residential or commercial.
