Do I have to pay sales tax?

For most products the Alternative Energy Store will not charge you sales tax. Here are some of the exceptions:

Customers in Massachusetts only have to pay sales tax when the item ordered is not a renewable energy system component (e.g. book, washing machine, DC refrigerator, etc.). Currently, renewable energy products are exempt from Massachusetts state tax.
Customers in Ohio need to pay state sales tax.
Customers in New Mexico need to pay state sales tax.
Items where the manufacturer resides in the same state as the ship to address and your item is being shipped directly from the manufacturer.These states may include, but are not limited to: California, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Nevada, Washington. Some shipments to Canada are subject to Goods & Service Tax if shipping directly from a manufacturer in Canada.

For most states, sales tax is automatically computed on both product(s) and shipping costs. To see the total sales tax charged on your order, click on checkout. If sales tax is not automatically calculated at the time of your order, a representative will contact you before proceeding with the order.

We will gladly credit sales tax for government institutions. Just fax us a copy of your Resale Certificateor tax-exemption form with an address matching that of your order's to 1.877.242.6718 or 1.978.562.5854. Please include a copy of your receipt or your order number.
